October 24 Event in Salt Lake City on World Polio Day
The Rotary Foundation is transforming our world. Since its founding more than 100 years ago, The Rotary Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects from the eradication of polio to providing clean water.
Utah Rotarians from around the state will have an opportunity to support the work of the global Rotary Foundation with a dinner Thursday, October 24 in Salt Lake City. The event will honor the work of The Rotary Foundation, including its efforts to eradicate polio worldwide. October 24 is celebrated around the world as World Polio Day.
“As Utah Rotarians, our clubs around the state make lives better in their respective communities,” said Utah Rotary District Governor John Hanrahan. “Now our local Rotarians can help change the world through The Rotary Foundation.”
The dinner will be held at the Salt Lake Marriott Downtown at City Creek beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available now for just $60 per person.
The evening will be highlighted by a keynote address from Greg Podd, a past Rotary International vice president. Since joining Rotary in 1982, Podd has been the consummate Rotarian. Recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary, Pond has served as vice president of Rotary International and has been the recipient of the Service Above Self Award and The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service Award. Across all his work, his passion has been in serving The Rotary Foundation raising millions of dollars that has impacted individuals and communities on every continent.
Globally, Rotary International has a membership of 1.2 million in 33,000 clubs. Utah Rotary District 5420 encompasses over 40 clubs with around 1,000 Utah Rotarians.
