Meet 2021-22 Utah Rotary District Governor Judy Zone
District Governor Judy Zone has been a Rotarian for 20 years. She has been the Public Relations Chair for 3 Past District Governors, a three-time RYLA facilitator, an Assistant Governor, District Newsletter Editor, and a Chief of Staff.
Her top Rotary experiences also include serving as Volunteer Chair for the 2007 Rotary International Convention in Salt Lake City, organizing 2100 Utah Rotarians and their families to welcome the world to Utah. She has written more than a dozen Rotary Matching Grants and one Global Grant for clean water, sanitation, and other projects in Kenya, Mexico, Peru, and Thailand. The relationships she’s built with Rotarians in those countries are not only dear to her, they’ve helped her see the very big picture that is Rotary International. She helped charter a Rotary Club in Kenya, and chartered the Rotary Club of Millcreek (her club) here in Utah.
Judy is a lifetime educator at the high school and college level. She has a Masters in the teaching of reading and writing, and is ‘all but dissertation’ in a doctoral degree in education. In founding and growing the Utah based nonprofit Youthlinc, she ran a service leadership school for nearly 20 years. Through the local and international service offered to Utah youth through Youthlinc, she has come to know and cherish the friendship of hundreds of Utah Rotarians.
Judy retired in 2016. Since then she has been an active volunteer for Rotary and Youthlinc, and an active grandmother. She is married to Dr. John Zone, past Chair of the Dermatology Department at the University of Utah Medical Center, who is still a practicing physician and immunodermatologist.
